Introduction to HappyBidDay

HappyBidDay.com® is an exciting online live auction site where you can win the hottest electronic items, designer jewelry and much more.

Online Discount Auctions are a new form of shopping on the internet and are becoming more and more popular, taking online auctions to a new level. We auction brand new, factory-sealed products at amazing prices, usually 60% to 90% off the retail price.

How much does it cost to participate?

If you want to bid in our auctions you will first need to register.  Registration is free and takes less than 60 seconds.

When you register you will receive free bids and automatically be enrolled in our rewards program.  There is no cost for our rewards program and registration is free.  You can use your free bids in all our happy auctions and if you are the last bidder you only pay for the final price of the item.

If you would like to participate in our one cent auction you will need to purchase bids.  Bids cost between $0.50 and $0.80 each depending on the bid package you choose.  We offer a 20% discount on bid packages the day of registration.

How can I start bidding

How do I buy bids?

Once you have logged in to your account, click on "Buy Bids."  You can purchase bids using your credit card, debit card or Dwolla account.  All of our payment options are SSL secured.

Once you purchase a bid package the bids will be added to your account.  Our packages include Free Bids which can be used for our Happy Auctions.  You can use your free bids to win bid packs and save between 20% and 50%.

How do I calculate my actual cost?

To calculate your actual cost to win an item you must look at two things:

1. How many bids did you use.

2. Final auction price of the item.

For example, you place 10 bids on the auction and each bid cost you $0.70. The total cost for bids = $7.00.  You win and the final auction price for the item is $2.00.  The total cost to you, would be  $9.00 plus shipping.

If I don't win an auction, do I get my bids back?

Any bids placed during an auction are considered "used" and are non-refundable.  Per your request, we will refund your purchased unused bids within 30 days of the purchase date. 

Our refund policy excludes any bids won in an auction, promotional bids, and bids received as part of our bid back auctions or happy guarantee. 

Where can I see my bidding history?

Click on My Account and then go to Bid Account.  You will see the latest auctions which you participated in.

How does BidRunner work?

NEVER MISS OUT ON AN AUCTION AGAIN

BidRunner is an automated bidding tool that bids for you when you cannot follow the auction online or your attention is on another auction. It's a great tool, easy to use and is very effective for winning auctions.  Using BidRunner guarantees your bid will be placed within the parameters you set.

Setting up your BidRunner:

1. Select the auction you would like to bid on and click the image or product link.

2. BidRunner is located on the bottom right hand side.

3. Enter the amount you would like to bid from (example $0.67).

4. Enter the amount you would like to bid to (example $2.50).

5. Enter the total number of bids you would like to place (example 25).

6. Click on "ADD."

7. Your new BidRunner will be immediately displayed under the My BidRunner tab.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

1. Your BidRunner can be deleted anytime BEFORE the BidRunner tool starts bidding for you.  Once your BidRunner is bidding on an auction for you, it cannot be deleted.

2. Active BidRunners will be canceled once your win limits are reached.  Any unused bids will be returned to your account.

3. A maximum of 400 BidRunner bids can be active per auction.  A maximum of 1,200 BidRunner bids can be active in all auctions.

4. Special limitations apply to New Customers during the first week: Only one BidRunner can be set at a time, with a maximum of 50 bids per setting.

Setting your BidRunner for Capped Auctions:

1. For Capped Auctions, BidRunners can either be set by a price range OR by the number of bids to fire at the Capped Price.

2. When using the price range, the “Bid To” price cannot be set higher than the Capped Price.  If the BidRunner has bids remaining once it reaches the Capped Price, it will continue firing until all bids are used.

3. Once the auction reaches the Capped Price, you will no longer be able to specify a price range for your BidRunner.  You will only be able to specify the number of bids to fire.

4. A maximum of 2 BidRunners can be set at one time at the Capped Price.

I just won an auction.  What's next?

Congratulations!

Now you need to make payment for your won auction.

Once the auction has ended, the final bidder will be displayed in the auction box.  Simply go to "My Account" and click on "Won Auctions".  Click on the "PURCHASE" button to make payment for your won auction. 

You have 3 days from the winning date to purchase your item. Once you purchase the item we will confirm your payment by email and ship the item to you.  If you haven't purchased the item within the 3 days, the item will expire and no longer be available for purchase.

Please be aware that you will be prevented from participating in our Happy Auctions once two or more Happy Auction wins are left unpaid in your account.

Be sure to check your "Won Auctions" page frequently.

Auction Types

Penny Auction

To participate in our penny auctions you will need to purchase a bid package.  You can also use bids that you purchased from an auction you won.  Each time a bid is placed the auction price increases by $.01. The last bidder purchases the product for the final auction price.

Happy Auction

Happy Auctions are our free-to-participate auctions where you use your Free Bids earned through the Rewards Program. Look for the smiley face icon to join these free-to-bid auctions.

Happy Auctions open at 15% of their retail price, and increase by $0.02 with each bid. These auctions are also capped at 70% of the listed retail price, guaranteeing savings for the winner. In other words, Happy Auction winners always enjoy at least a 30% discount! When the clock runs out and there are no more bids, the last person to place his bid wins the auction. .

Starter Auction

Take advantage of our Starter Auctions, exclusively for users who have less than 5 penny auction wins.

Buy It Auction

If you bid and don't win a Buy It auction, you still have another opportunity to make it yours.  When the auction's over, non-winners have 24 hours to purchase the item for the listed retail value and get their bids back.  (See Buy It Page for more details.)

Capped Auction

Capped Auctions work just like our Penny Auctions: participants place bids, each bid increases the price, and when there are no more bidders and the auction timer reaches 0:00, the last bidder wins the auction. The difference here is that these auctions have designated Capped Prices. Once the auction reaches the Capped Price, bids no longer increase the price, and the winning bidder pays the capped amount for the item (plus shipping and handling, as usual).

VIB (Very Important Bidder) Auction

VIB Auctions, a.k.a. Very Important Bidder Auctions, are Penny Auctions with a simple twist.  Anyone can bid on a VIB Auction until it reaches a preset price point called the VIB Price (which you can see any time by hovering your mouse over the VIB icon). Once the VIB Price is met, no new bidders are allowed in the auction - no jumpers!  More savings, less competition.

Winner Bids Back Auction

25% of bids used by the winner are returned at the end of the auction.

 

When does the auction end?

Each auction ends when the timer reaches zero on our servers.

Why is time added to the clock?

Each time a user places a bid we add either 10, 15 or 20 seconds to the clock.  This gives everyone an equal opportunity to bid.

Adding an auction to your watch list

There is an icon displayed on the left side of the bid button in the auction box.  Simply click on the icon to add the auction to your watch list. When clicking on the "My Account" tab, click on Watched Auctions to review the list of auctions in your "Watch List."

What are the win limits?

Once you register and log in, you will have access to your account by clicking on the "My Account" tab. 

Here you will find all the information you need about your Auctions, Bid Account and Personal Details.

How do I change my password

Once you are logged in, click on the "My Account" tab.  You will notice that everything pertaining to your account is conveniently located on this page.  Click on the "Change Password" tab.  Enter your new password twice and click Submit.  Your new password will be effective immediately.

Where can I review bid history?

Your bid activity can be reviewed by clicking on the "Bid Account" tab.  You will have access to your purchased bids, free bids and placed bids.

How do I pay for bids?

At HappyBidDay, our goal is to keep it simple for you.  You can conveniently pay for your bids using your credit or debit card; we currently accept Visa, MasterCard and American Express.  You can also make payment with a Dwolla account.  We use high-security encoding (SSL) to protect your payment details when processing your online payments.

How do I pay for product?

What is the cost of delivery?

Delivery charges are located on the bottom of the Product Details page.  All charges are for delivery within the continental United States.  There will be an additional delivery cost for Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico.  We cannot ship to P.O. Box addresses.

You can review delivery charges before bidding on an auction by clicking on the auction's picture or product name.  Delivery charges are located at the bottom of the page.

When can I expect delivery?

We do our best to ship each order as soon payment is received.  All items will be shipped within 7 business days of receiving payment.

Has my product been shipped?

You can track delivery by going to your "Won Auctions" page under "My Account".  Products are shipped within 7 business days of receiving payment.

If you do not receive your product within 14 business days, please contact us.

Substitute Items

Unfortunately, on rare occasions there can be times when we are not able to provide the exact product you've won in an auction.  If this happens, we will contact you and offer an equivalent product or a product of equal value. 

I received damaged goods; what should I do?

If you received an item that is damaged we would like to first apologize for the inconvenience.  Most of our customers have no problems with goods they receive. However occasionally an item can get damaged in transit. 

If an item is damaged you have 14 days to contact us at support@happybidday.com.  Send us your auction ID, product name and an explanation of the damages.    We will make arrangements to have the item returned.  Upon inspection, if the item is indeed damaged, we will immediately ship you a replacement item of equal or higher quality. 

IMPORTANT: Please don't send the item back without first contacting us.  This will delay the process in replacing your item.

We value you as a customer and our goal is to handle this matter quickly.

Is there a warranty on products?

All of the items being auctioned at HappyBidDay are brand new and come with a standard maunufacturer's warranty. 

Can I return an item I won?

Yes, if for any reason within 14 days of delivery, you decide that you no longer want the item please Contact Us and we will be more than happy to help you.  Please include your username, the auction ID and reason for the return.  All items must be returned in their original packaging.  Once we receive the item, we will be happy to refund you the final auction price that you paid for the item as well as the orginal shipping cost.  The cost of any bids spent on the auction as well as return shipping cost are not refundable. 

How can I use my Free Bids

Once you log in to your account, the log-in bar will display the amount of Penny Bids and Free Bids that are in your account.

Free Bids can be used in our Happy Auctions.  Using your Free Bids is a great way to practice bidding and score gift cards, small appliances, electronics and bid packs that can be used in our Penny Auctions. Look for the happy face icon displayed next to the bid button.

With each bid, Happy Auctions increase by 2 cents.  You will never pay more than 70% of the retail price. Once the price reaches 70% the auction price will say "CAPPED".

Free bids expire on the 1st of each month for bids received the previous month.  However, we will roll over up to 1,000 bids each month.  

Example:

January you receive 1,500 Free Bids.  You don't use any Free Bids.  We will roll over 1,000 bids into February and you lose the other 500 bids.

How Buy It Works

Buy It Auctions are an exciting new way to get your favorite products at HappyBidDay. You can bid to win – just like all our auctions – and now with our Buy It feature, even if you don’t win, you still have the opportunity to make the item yours.

How the Buy It Feature Works

Anytime you see the icon on a HappyBidDay auction item, it means that item can be purchased by non-winners when the auction ends. If you win, it’s treated just like any other auction (you pay for your won item and we process it). If you don’t win, you can now choose to purchase the item for the listed retail value and get your bids back.  All items purchased through the "Buy It" feature are considered final sale and such items cannot be returned once they are shipped.

Once the auction ends, you have 24 hours to use the Buy It feature and you can make your purchase 2 different ways: 

1. Buy It from the Product Page. Make your purchase immediately after the auction ends by clicking the BUY IT NOW button from the product page.

2. Buy It from Your Account. If you want to come back later to make your purchase, you can use the Buy It feature from your account. Simply log in, go to "My Account", then click "Buy It Auctions" from the left navigation and find your item. Just remember, the Buy It option expires 24 hours after the auction ends, so don't wait too long!
